My Cosmic Girl's founding members Ella and Elvis have an undeniable creative chemistry. Brought together by a university course in 2021, the duo bonded over their love for early 'Laurel Canyon-esque' folk music, and the band was conceived over a simple piano line. Fellow bandmates Oliver, Jackson, and Toby were drawn into the duo's first single "Frenchie," which has become a crowd favourite at their gigs and a frequent spin on student radio in New Zealand.

My Cosmic Girl has been awarded the Joan Prior Award for Young Performers and the KettleWink Award at Wellington Folk Festival 2023. Currently, the band is working on their debut EP, capturing the dynamic energy of their live performances in a studio setting, with honest, simple lyricism and unforgettable hooks.
