The Performance Arcade seeks volunteers to join us for the 2025 season!

​

The Performance Arcade is an established annual arts and music festival that engages 60,000-90,000 art lovers and passers-by on the waterfront of Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Working with the Arcade can help you upskill in a range of arts and events categories, from arts programming to music production to stage management to spatial design. Our interns and volunteers go on to careers in the arts, music, and events sectors, and often return to join our team on future projects. The Arcade provides references for volunteers and is happy to support you in developing your arts events careers. 

 

We seek curious, enthusiastic volunteers who are willing to get stuck in, try out new skills, and contribute to the success of a vibrant festival in a fast-paced, fun environment.

We seek the following volunteers:

• Audience metrics volunteers

• Art minding volunteers

• Bookstore minding volunteers

Event volunteers will need to be available for a couple of days during the festival period in February 2025 (get in contact with us at support@theperformancearcade.com to find out exact dates). There will be a training session and health and safety briefing to ensure you’re fully equipped.

We seek the following interns:

• Artist liaisons / artist assistants

• Programme assistants

• Mana whenua rangatahi interested in working in the arts within tauiwi arts organizations

• Event assistants

• Production interns

• Music programme interns

• Stage management interns

• Social media interns

• Spatial design assistants

• Arts writers and reviewers

Our internships are unpaid. They can be tailored to fit with the specific goals of the intern and are designed to help emerging arts practitioners learn about the industry. Internships can range from a couple of weeks to a few months, depending on the role, availability and interests of the intern.
