Major Flaws
Vocal | Pōneke

About the work
Major Flaws is a Pōneke based, funk-adjacent band. They started with the dream of making fun
music that will energise you and have you up and dancing. Even the slower, soul and R&B
inspired tracks will have you tapping your toes. We have a lot of original tunes to dance to, the
odd ballad to cry to, and some covers you might recognise. Our performances are exciting,
energetic, silly, fun and guaranteed to be remembered. We aim to get everyone moving!
About the artists
Sabrina Martin
Theatre performer and Vocalist
There was never a time when Sabrina wasn’t performing; they would stand in front of the TV and sing as a child! Sabrina brings sass,
vibrancy and attitude to the stage with their powerful vocals and engaging performance. Writing lyrics about living in Pōneke and navigating relationships, queerness and neurodiversity.
Brendan Schenk
Guitar
Filling out the higher end of the rhythm section is Brendan. His musical journey is a largely self-taught one — starting with pop punk in high school then some rock n’roll followed by many a year in various folk outfits playing banjo, mandolin, acoustic guitar and even the accordion. The funk-adjacent experiment began with a desire to dust off the electric and play something a little different to get people up and moving.
Giacomo Caleffi
Drums
Giac hits circular objects with Italian flair and is the main provider of Mamma mia and Peroni for the band. He started off playing electric guitar in Italy, then had to flee his homeland and grow a moustache for a minor accident of no relevance. He now plays drums with several Wellington bands and refuses to learn how to tune them. The drums, not the bands.
Jono Weston
Piano/Keys
Jono has been playing Piano and keyboards for most of his life in various bandsand musical theatre projects, and enjoys experimenting with various synth sounds and Keytar tones in Major flaws. If there are ever ivory’s that need twinkling, Jono will happily oblige.
Joe Morris
Bass
The newest member and provider of super groovy bass licks. He began bringing the funk at a young age after his consciousness was elevated from hearing slap bass for the first time. A recruit of Giacomo the Italian stallion, Joe will be sure to get your body moving!
