Kenzie from Welly
Hip-Hop | Pōneke, Aotearoa

About the work
True to her name, Kenzie was born and raised in Wellington, Aotearoa, to Māori and Samoan parents whose influence, alongside the guidance of her grandparents and rich cultural heritage, shaped her into the powerhouse she is today. From freestyling in the garage to experimenting with flows behind closed doors, her love for hip hop grew naturally and unapologetically.
As her confidence sharpened, so did her craft. Collaborating with family, including her cousin and acclaimed Samoan MC Poetik, Kenzie found her voice. That spark soon expanded into production, engineering, and ghostwriting, establishing her as a multidimensional artist with depth and intention.
Kenzie thrives in the space between tradition and defying expectation. Her distinctive style, cultural grounding, community-mindedness, activism, and fierce artistic energy all collide in her work.
Inspired by global sounds and stories, she still holds Wellington close. For Kenzie, there’s no place like home. Her music, identity, and purpose are woven together in her heart, her lineage, and her worldview, carving out a voice that feels both timeless and urgently now.
