PET Sounds — Studies for plastic bottles
Daniel Beban

About the work
PET Sounds is an interactive installation of sculptural instruments and musical assemblages created from single-use PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles. Visitors are encouraged to touch, explore, and play the works, activating sound while engaging with others in collaborative music-making. The close arrangement of the instruments invites spontaneous group performance, often bringing strangers together to make music. Conceptually, the work addresses environmental concerns by repurposing plastic waste into novel acoustic devices, celebrating creativity, invention, and sustainable practice. The installation transforms discarded materials into sculptural and sonic forms, offering a playful and social space where audiences can experiment, interact, and co-create. PET Sounds highlights the relationship between human creativity, sound, and environmental awareness while providing an immersive, participatory experience for all ages.
