About the work
Bri Louise blends sultry queer with smooth love and undeniable groove. Their sound has roots in Gospel and Neo-Soul, evolving into a rich fusion of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and R&B.
Bri Louise Band, performed by a live band consisting of Bri Louise (vocal/keys), Molly Wyatt (flute/vocals), Becky Devine (bass), Theo Thompson (guitar), Eloise Edmond (Saxophone) and Ateo Buhne (drums), Members include those from bands such as Casual Healing, Startime Ensemble, Sam Manzanza Afrobeat band, Reid, Girl Best Friend, Crumbly Jack etc.
Bri Louise is a multi-instrumentalist studying music in Wellington, Aotearoa. Much like the mold and mildew that also grew, Bri's music is born in a tiny, dark, perpetually moist/damp cave-room. DIY is in their DNA, just as it is in the music they produce with their equally musical friends. They have roots in Gospel and Neo-Soul, and now lean heavily on jazz, Hip-Hop, and R&B, with influences of Ambient and Classical music that keep their creative minds always in an experimental, imaginative mindset (for better or for worse). Bri’s pieces feature poetic lyrics covered in endless layers, colourful keys, phatty bass, flashy beats, vibrant guitar and fruity woodwinds.
