About the work

Red Phone by Boca del Lupo transforms a simple phone conversation into a theatrical, intimate, and unforgettable encounter. Part performance, part social experiment, the work takes place between two audience members at a time, each in their own handcrafted phone booth, creating anonymity that encourages participants to become the actors in their own experience.

Scripts address urgent contemporary issues, grief, loss, war, sexual abuse, Indigenous/settler relations, class, mental health, family dynamics, gender and sexual identity, and global politics, inviting conversations about what divides and unites us as a society.

The booths are versatile, capable of activating festival sites, museum lobbies, public parks, or cultural institutions, both indoors and outdoors. The performance creates intimate, memorable moments that travel with the audience long after the conversation ends.
