REID

MAWSA Live Lounge presents

Pop / R&B

(Pōneke / Wellington)

REID is an upcoming singer-songwriter who combines features of a wide range of musical genres into his own, putting his own spin on pop music. Writing music from experiences through both his eyes and those around him, he aims to create stories of honesty and relevance to ignite an emotional connection between his music and the listener.

REID. is a pop-r&b singer-songwriter that is still young but has many stories to tell.

The Wellington-based artist is making his way into the music scene, embodying the way boundaries between genres continue to collapse, especially in the pop realm.

When he was still a child, REID. picked up a guitar and started writing his own songs. Upon leaving high school, he moved to the creative capital city of Wellington to pursue his music career. Over time, he has gradually developed his own sound with influences such as Jeremy Zucker and The 1975, admiring the way they approach their production and instrumentation in a unique and alternative way. While also citing John Mayer and Ed Sheeran as important influences and their approaches to songwriting and the depth of intimacy behind their lyrics. REID. has the power to communicate universal emotions through his music to his audience, breaking into their minds. These influences along with his endeavours, are what have fostered the works of his upcoming projects and consequently remain the cornerstone of his artistry, culminating in his music.

The singer-songwriter also featured on Hunter Davison’s ‘Ecstasy’, caressing this intimate r&b track with his seemingly effortless runs. REID. plans on releasing his debut single ‘Savannah’ in February next year, with an EP to follow.
