Kate Ashworth | Spatial Design Lead
I was born and grew up on Waiheke Island, surrounded by the water of Tīkapa Moana. My family came by boat from Oxford to Tāmaki Makaurau in the 60s, and my ancestors are Jewish and English. Substituting high school for the local community library and a secondhand bookshop, I was always surrounded by books & stories. I spent three years travelling before starting to study Spatial Design at Massey University, where I am now entering my fourth year. I became involved with The Performance Arcade as a spatial intern in 2022, an assistant role in 2022, and I am returning for 2023. Over the summer, you will likely find me reading in my favourite cafe on the water.

Born in Ōtepoti, I lived and travelled overseas before being reeled back to beautiful Aotearoa in March 2020. I cycled my life and things up the country to Te Whanganui-a-Tara to study at Massey University, where I am currently in my third year of a Spatial Design degree. I am a fresh intern at The Performance Arcade where I have been contributing my design skills to the celebration of art and performance, two great passions of mine. When I'm not making things at the Arcade or at Uni, I am probably making a great meal, or making my skateboard go really really fast.
