The Performance Arcade brings together visual arts and performance in a specially curated ‘exhibition-event’ of live art practices on Wellington Waterfront. An arrangement of shipping containers and scaffold structures provides a temporary architecture for this unique project, housing a bar space, a programme of live music and events, and new performance installations by NZ and International artists. Open 13 hours a day, this event is free to the Wellington public.
Video footage of organic textures along with hand drawn illustration is then digitally manipulated into geometric forms. This virtual environment is then projected onto geodesic constructs, breathing life into them through the manipulation of light, space and motion that complements the dynamics of Shuedet’s musical performance. A juxtaposition of rich ambient textures with compelling organic rhythms, the songs develop into immersive, physical soundscapes that co-exist in the same spectral plane as the visuals.
SHUEDET AND BLOOM AV LIVE PERFORMANCE
THOM KING + JOVAN VUCINIC UK
Bloom AV is a collective of artists interested in exploring the boundaries of frequency manipulation and composition through visual storytelling. Their video works have been part of festivals such as Berlin Atonal, Melbourne Music Week and the Gertrude St Projection Festival, among others. Shuedet is a Wellington multi-instrumentalist who juxtaposes rich ambient textures with compelling organic rhythms, thunderous sub-bass and his own airy voice. Live performances involve viola, guitar, vocals, sequencers and further manipulation and looping of audio, culminating as a deep dive into physical electronic soundscapes.
