Betty and The Loose Heads
(Pōneke / Wellington)
Betty’s distinctive voice is clear and crisp with smoky depth. Combined with Loose Heads’ tight & technical musicianship the pairing carry their audiences effortlessly through their self-penned songs. Betty and the boys plan to wow their hometown audience with an extraordinary combination of alt pop & indie rock tracks - something for everyone.
Betty has been writing songs and performing for as long as she can remember. Betty’s writing and performance confidence has gathered pace over the last few years. She regularly busks at the Harbourside Market and local events and was thrilled to launch her debut single thedumbthingsyoudo at Moon in May 2021. She releases her second single Closer on her 16th birthday this spring and her EP early 2022 in anticipation of some summer festival gigs.
The Loose Heads are four young Wellington teenagers who banded together in 2017 through The Rock Academy. It didn’t take long for them to realise they shared a love for the classics from the indie rock era and they soon had a strong set of tracks for live performances. Now it’s all mostly originals for Loose Heads with collaborative songwriting producing a solid set of guitar driven, rhythm laden tracks. You’ll get a sprinkling of covers to boot, from The Beatles to Muse. They love to take to the stage, banging out their punchy, catchy rock tunes for all to enjoy.
